Odie Gets Betrayed

We were walking around the village yesterday (yeah, I finally gave in after the cigarette butt incident) and we saw LOTS of dogs! Apparently, one of our neighbors is a home-breeder of different animals. I saw a litter of shih tzu puppies which were TOO CUTE I wanted to hug them all. They also have pitbulls, pigeons, roosters, and I don't know what else. We also met a really fat brown dachshund, but his owner seemed like an ass so I didn't see if Odie could be friends with him.

We went to Sparky and Lily's house again. Yknow, our favorite black lab and lemon beagle neighbors. I discovered though that Lily's a boy so now I'll name him Leo. The three of them got so excited to see one another! Even if there was a gate separating Odie from them, they kept following Odie and were barking, as if wanting to break the barrier and just play with one another.

Odie was having so much fun interacting with them, when suddenly, Sparky and Leo began ignoring Odie and kept trying to get my attention. THEY WANTED IN ON ODIE'S TREATS!!! See, I was carrying Odie's treat container with liver bits, Canine Carryouts, and other treats. I guess they got a good whiff of these and completely ignored Odie. I gave them both a piece of the chicken liver treat and they went crazy! Sparky kept using his height to get the treat first. He stood on his hind legs so he could see me eye to eye. Leo used his cuteness to lure me. Both of them were looking me in the eye, using sad puppy eyes, hoping to get another piece. My heart seriously melted! I just stopped and looked at them both and said, "why are you doing this to me?" because oh my god, they looked adorable. I ended up giving all three dogs a small treat. When Sparky and Leo still ignored Odie, I figured it was time to go home. Poor baby, he thought they were all friends! :(

On our way back home, we were stopped by a neighbor who wanted to pet Odie. I already politely told him that he's a bit restless because he's already tired, but he insisted on petting the baby. Ugh. People here have a long way to go in terms of dog ethics. So I let him pet Odie, and Odie nipped the guy. Kulit kasi eh! The guy said Odie needs to be trained by Cesar Millan. I beg to differ. That neighbor guy is the one who needs to be taught! And to be honest, I'm not a fan of Millan's method of slapping dogs and pinning them to the floor when they do something bad. I mean, the guy's self-taught. Dog training through positive reinforcement is what canine behavior specialists employ, and they have formal education to support their method.

I just hope that our succeeding walks around the village would be smoother. I'm thankful that Odie didn't swallow anything toxic this time, but I also hope that on our next walk, Sparky and Leo would play with him again!
